Supramalleolar Orthoses

Supramalleolar Orthoses, often called SMOs, are custom braces that support the foot and ankle just above the ankle bones. They are commonly used to help improve stability, alignment, balance, and foot positioning while still allowing more freedom of movement than taller braces.

SMOs are often recommended for children or adults with low muscle tone, excessive pronation, instability, or gait concerns. Each device is designed to support healthy movement patterns while keeping comfort and wearability at the center of care.
